EMISSIVITY PRODUCT


The first release of our global land emissivity product (Version 0.1.0) is out!

The ultimate objective of this study is to develop global land emissivity maps critical for numerical weather prediction and surface monitoring using AMSR-E passive microwave images and necessary ancillary data. Emissivity maps are retrieved at different AMSR-E frequencies. The extrapolation of the obtained emissivity map to the AMSU frequencies and angles will also be investigated in this study.

The uniqueness of the developed product is that it accounts for the difference in peneration depth between microwave and thermal temperatures.

Emissivity maps will be ultimately integrated into Numerical Weather Prediction models.
